A Family Business With Over 50 Years of Manufacturing Experience From twisting cotton and wool to specialising in piping cord Bingley Textile Supplies was founded in 1969 by John Michael Hassell.
John started the business after spotting an opportunity in the textile industry, initially concentrating on the twisting of cotton and wool.
Ten years later, his two sons joined the business and began learning the trade.
Over the years, the textile industry changed considerably, and we changed with it.
Moving Into Piping Cord During the 1990s, demand for traditional twisting work declined rapidly. Rather than standing still, we looked for new opportunities and moved into the manufacture of washable piping cord, with “home-made” machines designed by John himself.
A few years later, we purchased a company producing paper piping, and added their products to our offering. As we continued to grow, we looked for other ways we could help our customers, and moved into sewing thread, which brings us to where we are today.
Piping cord became an increasingly important part of what we do, and it remains at the heart of the business today.
Third Generation Family Business The business has now reached its third generation.
